Conceptual Inspiration

Café heuler embodies the tranquil movement of water, flowing gently in and out, as reflected in its name, “流留場(Yuyujang).” The space is designed to invite patrons on a leisurely journey, encouraging them to enter with ease and linger in relaxation until their departure.

Embracing Water’s Essence

Water, often perceived as rigid and governed by strict rules, is actually characterized by its softness, serenity, and freedom. The design of Café heuler draws inspiration from these qualities, evoking the image of patrons floating effortlessly on its surface.

Fluid Spatial Experience

The spatial layout of Café heuler is orchestrated to emulate the flow of water, with two entrances symmetrically positioned to facilitate a seamless transition in and out of the space. There are no predetermined rules regarding which entrance serves as the ingress or egress; instead, patrons determine the direction based on their choice of entry and exit.

Curved Elements and Welcoming Gestures

Curved elements, such as the banister and ceiling structure, guide the physical flow within the space while extending a warm welcome to patrons. The subtle curvature of the banister and the concave indent in the ceiling, viewed from the entrance, create an inviting atmosphere, embracing visitors as they enter the café.

Seamless Integration

The design of Café heuler seamlessly integrates the concept of flowing water into its spatial layout and architectural elements. By blurring the boundaries between entry and exit and embracing the fluidity of movement, the café offers patrons a serene and immersive experience reminiscent of drifting on calm waters.
