FERN OST GALERIE, designed by CANOMA, stands as a specialty shop for women, offering cutting-edge Japanese brands curated by Director Tsubasa Mizoguchi. With a focus on brands designed for women with a “strong core,” reminiscent of Charlotte Perriand’s influence in Sendai during the 1940s, the store embodies a unique concept merging industrial charm with human touch within a commercial modernist setting, aligning with the ethos of Le Corbusier.

Flexible Spatial Design

To facilitate flexible operations and ensure unobstructed visibility throughout the space, a strategic approach was adopted. The design eschews partition walls in favor of an open-plan layout, delineating distinct zones through the thoughtful arrangement of pillars. Drawing inspiration from modernist architectural elements such as columns, steel sashes, and varied ceiling finishes, the space is seamlessly divided without impeding sightlines.

Symbolic Furnishings

Central to the store’s ambiance are symbolic furnishings crafted to evoke a sense of nostalgia and anticipation for the future. The boomerang table, meticulously reconstructed by skilled artisans, pays homage to past blueprints, drawings, and architectural details. Complementing this is a wall shelf reminiscent of a “CHIGAI-DANA,” crafted in aluminum to echo traditional craftsmanship. These bespoke pieces not only enhance the store’s aesthetic but also invite contemplation on the evolution of fashion and design, as they transition from contemporary to vintage within the space.

Embracing a philosophy that envisions the future through the lens of well-crafted furniture, FERN OST GALERIE Store by CANOMA offers a curated retail experience that seamlessly integrates heritage, innovation, and timeless elegance.
