Twitter has announced that its live audio conversation feature, Spaces, is now accessible on both desktop and mobile web browsers.
Previously, Spaces, akin to Clubhouse, was exclusively available through iOS and Android apps.
In a tweet, the micro-blogging platform stated, “Spaces are making their way to Twitter for web! Now you can join a Space to listen in, test out the new transcription design, and set reminders to join a scheduled Space.”
Enhancing User Experience and Accessibility
Twitter’s focus areas for Spaces on web browsers include infrastructure and a listening UI that adapts to different screen sizes, setting reminders for scheduled Spaces, and improving accessibility through transcriptions.
In a move to compete with Clubhouse, Twitter recently announced that Spaces would be available to users with 600 or more followers on both iOS and Android platforms.
Introducing ‘Ticketed Spaces’ Feature
Twitter is also developing a ‘Ticketed Spaces’ feature, allowing hosts to monetize their experiences and offer exclusive access to listeners. Hosts will be able to set ticket prices and the number of tickets available for sale.
A select group of hosts will have access to host Ticketed Spaces in the coming months. Hosts will receive the majority of revenue from ticket sales, with Twitter retaining a small portion. Additionally, users will soon be able to schedule and set reminders for upcoming Spaces.
Expansion of Testing and Availability
After initially testing Spaces with a limited group on iOS, Twitter expanded the trial to Android users in India in March. This expansion aims to provide users with the opportunity to participate in live, host-moderated audio conversations, further diversifying the platform’s user experience.
