Elevate EMEA’s RubberGard LSFR EPDM membrane played a pivotal role in sealing the roof of the innovative La Confluence building, situated in Namur, Belgium. Nestled at the convergence of the Samre and Meuse rivers, this project has injected new life into the ‘Le Grognon’ district, emerging as a vibrant hub for residents and visitors alike.
Internal Features
An integral component of the La Confluence building is the NID (Namur Intelligent and Sustainable), located at the confluence’s far end. Functioning as a center for innovation and experimentation, the NID aims to shape the city’s future trajectory. Beneath the NID lies a four-story parking facility, while the building itself houses a restaurant with a terrace, a multipurpose room, and a dynamic Living Lab.
Design Philosophy
Designed to activate both its interior and exterior spaces, the building seamlessly integrates its rooftop into the public realm. A pedestrian promenade, green spaces, and a versatile, multipurpose structure enhance the building’s functionality and accessibility.
RubberGard LSFR EPDM: The Roofing Solution
The roofing membrane selection for La Confluence was a meticulous process led by Elevate Master Contractor Protoitures, who expertly installed RubberGard LSFR EPDM membrane with a thickness of 1.5 mm. Chosen for its superior durability and flexibility, RubberGard LSFR EPDM ensured robust waterproofing for the uniquely designed site. Installed atop the vapor barrier and insulation, this membrane covered a vast roof area spanning 3,000 m2, guaranteeing watertight protection for decades to come.
Tailored Application
A section of the roof was ballasted with walkways and stairs, while another portion featured an expansive green roof. The versatility of RubberGard LSFR EPDM made it an ideal choice for accommodating the building’s significant slope, ensuring exceptional performance under diverse conditions.
In essence, Elevate EMEA’s RubberGard LSFR EPDM membrane played a crucial role in transforming the La Confluence building into a sustainable and architecturally striking landmark, seamlessly blending functionality with aesthetics.
