A Historic Landmark Reimagined
Situated in the heart of Madrid, Gilda Haus emerges as a beacon of innovation within the historic San Mateo 6 locale, renowned for its significance in “La Movida.” Tasked with designing the city’s new social hub, CODOO STUDIO embarked on a mission to redefine the traditional tavern experience, infusing it with elements of classic cocktail culture and electronic music DJ sets.
Crafting a Versatile Space
At the core of the design challenge was the creation of a multifunctional venue—a bar that seamlessly transitions from day to night, offering a space for dining, socializing, and dancing. Gilda Haus was envisioned as a dynamic environment with distinct zones that evolve throughout the day, catering to diverse clientele and activities.
Drawing Inspiration from Madrid’s Essence
In homage to Madrid’s vibrant spirit and modernity, the design narrative draws inspiration from the ‘dolce vita’ lifestyle of the 1970s, echoing the design ethos of Gianfranco Frattini. The result is a space that exudes timeless elegance while embracing contemporary flair.
Vibrant Color Palette
Color takes center stage in the project, with a full-spectrum experience that captivates the senses. A monochromatic orange palette dominates the bar area, extending seamlessly across various surfaces and textures. This warmth is accentuated by vibrant electric blue and fluorescent orange accents, creating a dynamic interplay of hues that evolve with changing lighting conditions.
Immersive Design Elements
Every detail in Gilda Haus contributes to the immersive experience, from the carefully selected fabrics to the high-gloss finishes and carpeting, each responding dynamically to light and movement. The result is a visually captivating space that invites patrons to immerse themselves fully in the vibrant atmosphere.
